Muriate of Potash (MOP) is a fertiliser supplying Potasium, which is one of the major plant nutrient. Since MOP deposits are not found in India, FACT has been importing and marketing this high quality Muriate of Potash from Russia, Africa etc. for the past several decades. The fertiliser contains 60% K₂O, which is one of the three major nutirents (N,P and K) required for the growth of the plants. Potassium increases pest and disease resistance in crops. It helps to correct bad effect arising out of excessive use of nitrogeneous fertilisers and helps in better water use efficiency of crops, protecting the crops under drought conditions.Potasium helps in translocation of protein, fats and carbohydrates from the leaves to the fruiting structures such as panicle, cobs, tubers etc., thereby increasing the size of the grains and other fruiting structures. Thus it facilitates improving the yield of the crops. Potasium helps in increasing the oil contained  of oilseed crops, with resultant increase in the marketability.
