Chairman and Managing Director

Shri A B Khare, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) is a Chemical Engineer from IIT Roorkee. He began his career with RCF in 1980; served in various capacities before reaching the position of Chief General Manager (Commercial). He became the CMD of Madras Fertiliser Limited in January 2016. Presently, Shri.A.B.Khare holds additional charge of Chairman and Managing Director of FACT. Shri.Khare is currently steering two Fertiliser giants towards profitability.

In the year 1990, Shri.A.B.Khare visited the USA to attend the UNIDO sponsored programme on simulation, optimization, advance control and artificial intelligence at Purdue University for a period of 3 months. A man with a lot of exposure to Fertiliser Industry, Shri.Khare has many laurels to his credit.

During his tenure in RCF, Shri.Khare was instrumental in establishing records for the highest production and lowest energy consumption. With his vast experience in Fertiliser Industry, and as an authority on Engineering and Technology, Shri.Khare had conceptualized and implemented various projects for capacity enhancement, revamping of plants and facilities, energy saving and efficiency improvement. Some of the milestone achievements are given below.

  • Implemented the capacity expansion project of Ammonium Nitrate (AN) from 150 MTPD to 400 MTPD at RCF.

  • Had a crucial role in the execution of the capacity enhancement of the Thal Urea and Ammonia revamp projects. Urea capacity was enhanced from 1725 to 2300 MTPD; Ammonia plant capacity was enhanced from 3375 to 3800 MTPD, coupled with energy consumption reduction from 8.9 to 8.08 MKcal/MT for Ammonia production.

  • Conceptualized and prepared feasibility reports for Gas Turbine Project at Trombay and Thal.

  • Prepared feasibility report of Syria phosphate mining projects and Tunisia phosphate mining projects involving investment of 4 billion US$ each. He made feasibility report for Solar PV power generation.

  • Introduced in 1999 a financial modeling of optimum product mix for maximizing profit in RCF Trombay.

In MFL he has taken measures to implement several energy saving projects which is helping company to turn around in a short period of one year.

He is instrumental in restarting NPK production and sustaining the production with better planning.

Shri S. K. Lohani B.Tech, belongs to  1995 batch of Indian Administrative Service.  At present he is the Joint Secretary in the Department of Fertilizers, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India.

Shri K P S Nair Dr. K.P.S. Nair is a retired Professor & Principal and Head of Department of Mechanical Engineering, School of Engineering, Cochin University of Science and Technology. He is also a technocrat and management expert. He is having rich experience in educational, industrial and management field and closely associated with various professional bodies like National Safety Council, National Productivity Council, etc.

Dr. Murali S Dr. S.Murali is a doctor by profession practicing at Bangalore and he is actively engaged in various social activities. He is Assistant Commissioner, St. John’s Ambulance Brigade. He has published and presented papers in various conferences/ seminars.
